The State needs a well qualified manpower to handle the health related problems and promotion of positive health. The Department of Health & F.W. plays a pivotal role in developing medical and para-medical personnel to cater to the health needs of the State. The department also has a role to play in establishment and maintenance of well-equipped teaching institutions, which are the premier referral centres with state of the art equipment and technology. Research is another area of activity for Health Department. This web site gives details about various activities and facilities of the Directorate Health & F.W. The site also provides information on hospitals, other health institutions, hospital facilities, etc. for the benefit of the public.


District Chief Medical Offices & Hospitals under Health & F.W. Deptt.

Health &F.W. Deptt. has been bifurcated into Directorate of Health Services (DHS) and Directorate of Hospital & Medical Education(DHME), each having a separate budget. DHS look after rural health institutions i.e., Community Health Centres (CHCs), Primary Health Centres (PHCs), Sub-Centres (SCs) and Rural Hospital, Tlabung. Similarly, Civil Hospital(Aizawl), Kulikawn, Hospital and all the district hospitals come under the jurisdiction of Directorate of Hospital & Medical Education. Read more

The present 300 Bedded Civil Hospital Aizawl was established in 1896 ith a few Beds, In 1906 the Hospital had around 12 Beds to cater to the Small population of that time. During 1960’s the Hospital had about 56 Bed (Male wards, Female wards,Isolating ward and Separate 12 Beds T.B wards). Read More
