National Mental Health Programme

 

  1. To provide mental health services including prevention, promotion and long-term continuing care at different levels of district healthcare delivery system.
  2. To augment institutional capacity in terms of infrastructure, equipment and human resource for mental healthcare
  3. To promote community awareness and participation in the delivery of mental health services
  4. To broad-base mental health into other related programs and integration into other health services. 

 

The District Mental Health Program (DMHP) was launched under NMHP in the year 1996 (in IX Five Year Plan). Components of DMHP:

  1. Components for setting up of DMHP center, Infrastructure, Preparatory phase.
  2. IEC & Community mobilization activities 
  3. Targeted intervention at community level and PPP
  4. Trainings
  5. Drugs
  6. Equipments 
  7. Ambulatory services
  8. Monitoring and Evaluation
  9. Operational expenses and miscellaneous
