 NATIONAL VIRAL HEPATITIS CONTROL PROGRAMME (NVHCP) 

1. Introduction:

Aims & Objectives

• Elimination of Hepatitis C by 2030
• Achieve significant reduction in the infected population, morbidity and mortality associated with Hepatitis B and C viz. Cirrhosis and Hepato-cellular carcinoma (liver cancer)
• Reduce the risk, morbidity and mortality due to Hepatitis A and E. 
  1. Operationalizing National Viral Hepatitis Control Programme in Mizoram
• Civil Hospital, Aizawl the biggest hospital in the state has been operationalized as Model Treatment Centre since 8^thNovemeber, 2019.
• 1 Physician has been identified as the Nodal Officer  at MTC.

State Laboratory :

• Civil Hospital, Aizawl has been operationalized as the State Laboratory.
• 1 Microbiologist has been identified as the Nodal Officer for State Lab.

District Laboratory:

• Civil Hospital, Lunglei& State Referral Hospital, Falkawn have been operationalized as District Laboratory.
• 1 Microbiologist each has been identified as the Nodal Officer for the District Lab.

DTC (District Treatment Centre):

District Treatment Centre has been operationalized at District Hospital Champhai, Mamit, Lunglei, Serchhip, Kolasib, Lawngtlai, State Referral Hospital, Falkawn&Siaha.

State Viral Hepatitis Management Unit (SVHMU):

• SVHMU was set up at Directorate of Hospital & Medical Education, New Secretariat Complex, Khatla under the guidance of State Nodal Officer.

   • Screening of High Risk Groups on Hepatitis B & C.
   • Screening of Pregnant women on Hepatitis B.
   • Reduce the risk, morbidity and mortality due to Hepatitis A and E

   • ACHIEVEMENT 2025- 2026 :

     Monitoring cum Supervisory Visit was held on 9^th April, 2025 (Wednesday) at Model Treatment Centre, Civil Hospital, Aizawl.

     Virtual Meeting was held on 13^th June, 2024 (Thursday) with regards to Plan for Observance of World Hepatitis Day, 2024. 

      A meeting was held with PATH & SALOM at the Office Chamber of the Mission Director regarding Hepatitis C Drugs on 21^st  June, 2024 (Friday).

       A meeting was held at Model Treatment Centre with PATH, SHALOM & officials at Model Treatment Centre regarding drugs and treatment of Hepatitis C on 21^st June, 2024 (Friday).

      

     State Level Training on HMIS was held on 22^nd & 23^rd April, 2025 (Tuesday & Wednesday) at Lianchhiari Run, I & PR Conference Hall, Treasury Square where sensitization on documentation of data on NVHCP was given by SNO (NVHCP).
     

     
     

     Online Review on Central Procurement of Hepatitis B drugs was held on  3^rd July, 2025 (Thursday) via Video Conferencing.

     
     

     Live Discussion on Doordarshan Kendra Mizoram regarding World Hepatitis Day was held on 21^st July, 2025 (Monday).

     
     

     Observance of ‘World Hepatitis Day’ on 28^th July (Monday), 2025 in all the districts.

     
     

     Live Discussion at All India Radio on  Viral Hepatitis  was held on 29^th July, 2025(Tuesday).

     Monitoring cum Supervisory Visit was held on 29^th - 30^th September, 2025 (Monday & Tuesday) at Distinct Treatment Centre, District Hospital, Mamit.

     Monitoring cum Supervisory Visit was held on 5^th February, 2026 (Thursday) at Distinct Treatment Centre, District Hospital, Champhai.

     Virtual Meeting was held with all the District Nodal Officers on NVHCP MIS Health  Facility Mapping in collaboration with Central, NVHCP on 21^st  June, 2024 (Friday) from 2:00 to 4:00 pm.l  A meeting was held at the office Chamber of the Mission Director, NHM, Dinthar regarding Hepatitis C drugs and Treatment with PATH, SHALOM & State NVHCP Team.l  Dissemination meeting on Acceptability and Usability of HCV Self -Testing among the HCV at Risk General Population, PWID and their partners in Mizoram at Aijal Club, Tuikual, Aizawl on 12^th July, 2024 (Friday).
     • l  “World Hepatitis Day” was observed on 29^th July, 2024 (Monday) under the chairmanship of Mission Director, NHM and Hon’ble Minister, Health & Family Welfare Department, Mizoram as Chief Guest.
     • l  A meeting was held at Model Treatment Centre on Test Kits & Treatment under the chairmanship of the State Nodal Officer, NVHCP on 2^nd August, 2024 (Friday).
     • l  Monitoring & Supervisory Visit of District Treatment Centre under NVHCP at District Hospital, Serchhip was held on 23^rd September, 2024 (Monday) by State Nodal Officer, NVHCP.

     • l  Monitoring & Supervisory Visit of Treatment Centre under NVCHP at  District Hospital, Mamit was held on 19^th September, 2024 (Thursday).   
     • l  Online Review on Management of Viral Hepatitis for Nodal Officer and District Nodal Officer was held on   25^th October, 2024 (Thursday) from 3:00 pm - 4:00pm.
